Well the repairs have been done already but i cant help feeling ripped off... a month ago, my car didnt go forward when pressing on the gas.. The motor was running fine, but gears did not go engage. The garage told me the clutch had to be changed.. so they did. It worked fine for 3 weeks and then the same thing happened. Motor running fine, but gears not engaging. They then told me the left CV joint had to be changed. When i was ready to take it home, they told me there was 2 CV joints on the left side??? Is that the case or did i get ripped off? And first of all did i have a bad clutch or could it have been the CV joints all along? Thanks for taking interest.
Suzuki Esteem 1998 CV joint and clutch problems...?
Sounds like your have been and are going to be ripped of again. The CV joints have no effect on the gear selection, to test if the CV joint need to be changed you need to drive the car with the steering wheel turned full lock first to the right and then to the left. If you can hear a knocking noise coming from the front of the car then you do need to have one or both changed.
Between the gear box and the gear stick there is a gear box linkage. Often this linkage can go out of alignment for several reasons. Often plastic bushes in the linkage can become worn and need replacement.
My advice would be to get the car to another garage and ask for a second opinion.
Ja.
Suzuki Esteem 1998 CV joint and clutch problems...?
They replaced CV AXLE.CV axle has two CV(constant velocity)joints...inner and outer. So I assumed they replaced CV AXLE,not just a joint.
