anytime you work on the drivetrain, axles bearings it is always recommended. it reduces the wear and tear on your tires also having a proper alignment. plus who wants to drive down the road looking at a car driving out of alignment.

Not unless you previously had aligned with the bad bearings in it.
No. CV axle and/or bearing replacement do not affect alignment angles.
Check with your mechanic to see if he is going to remove the axle shafts. But, I think that if your car is equipped with power steering you don't ever have to have it aligned. Alignment was only necessary on older cars because they were harder to steer since they didn't have power steering.
I concur with the two previous answers, no alignment necessary.
It is recommended but not necessary drive it and see how it feels before you do anything. A good techy should be able to do the job to the point no alignment is needed.
No, the bearings don't change allignment, and neither does the cv joints but you might have to disasemble an alignment point, then realignment is indicated.
If the half-shafts(cv axles) are removed in the correct manner it should not affect your alignment. However, replacement of the front wheel bearings is a different matter. On your car the steering knuckle must be removed from the car and the bearings must be %26quot;pressed%26quot; out and the new ones %26quot;pressed%26quot; back in and the car MUST be re-aligned.
CV joints do not affect tire wear. If your tires are wearing unevenly then get an alignment.

How do i change the cv boot on a honda civic aerodeck. all off apart from separating cv joint how do i do it?

you cut the metal clamps with a grinder or sidecutter, slide the boot down the axle, put the axle side in a bench vise, and pound the hub side portion of joint off of the axle, slide the boot off, slide the new boot on, change the retaining clip provided in the kit, pound joint back on, insert grease that was supplied in the kit, slide the boot on, install the clamps, and throw the axle back in the car.....

I would replace the half axle. Rebuilt they are around $70.00.

Then get a repair manual for your car. It's do-able for a DIYer, so get the manual and dig in. Set aside about 4 hours for a first timer.

What is causing this whining noise like bad bearings or CV joint?

I have a 2001 Subaru Outback wagon, 2.5L, auto, 63000 original miles. New tires and alignment done and left front outer wheel bearing changed and I'm still having this whining noise from the front, as if nothing was done. My mechanic is stumpped and advises to continue driving until the noise gets worst before spending more money or changing something else. Suggestions?
What is causing this whining noise like bad bearings or CV joint?
sometimes a noise HAS to get worse to pinpoint a problem,,, however he should be able to raise the vehicle disengage traction control and run in gear to pinpoint that type noise.... still sounds like bearing ..does the noise change when going around curves? if so... maybe bearing on other side or defective bearing just been installed....or technician ERROR damaged bearing

iam just guessing here, but what about a cv joint, like i said, its just a guess.

How to change the CV Joints on a Honda Accord?

If anyone knows how or has a link for a tutorial that would be nice. It is a 1998 Honda Accord 2.3L. Thanks!!
How to change the CV Joints on a Honda Accord?
I usually change the entire half shaft. Remove the tire, remove the center nut, disconnect lower ball joint, disconnect tie rod end, lift strut assembly outward to remove outer CV joint, carefully pry inner CV joint. If I remember right, sometimes the upside down U shape bracket needs to be removed also.

Special tools needed: long prybar, 30mm or 32mm 1/2%26quot; drive socket, big hammer (or pickle fork).

Do I need a cv joint to change a wheel stud?

I was watching this video on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gy9t1mU0lG0%26amp;feature=channel_page

and this guy uses a cv joint. If so how do i get one, does it matter what size? im not going to autozone and just saying %26quot;i need a cv joint%26quot;. I have an 1982 olds 98 and im replacing a stud, Do you just take the wheel off and then start beating out the old stud, or is there something else have to do after i take off the wheel?
Do I need a cv joint to change a wheel stud?
forget the cv joint...just heat the hub and knock out the stud...simple as
Do I need a cv joint to change a wheel stud?
You should be able to just knock the old stud out with a mallet or hammer, nothing else involved.
an 82 shouldnt have a cv jount- its not front wheel drive-or should be-should just need a stud- is this on ffront or back email me
in the Video he uses a cvjoint nut the the joint it self you can use any nut that is large enough to fit over the stud to pull the new stud into place. as far as removing the old one just hit it with a hammer until it comes loose if it is broken you can use a punch to get it out. Good luck.
You do not need to replace the cv joint to change a wheel stud.

Take a the tire off spin hub until it is on the opposite side of the brake caliper be care full not to hit the brake rotor use a punch and hammer or a mallet drive the broken wheel stud in towards the car. It should come out after about 3-4 good hits. Install the new wheel stud from the inside out tap in with a hammer make sure it seats all the way in.

Go to www.autozone.com they have repair manuals that tell and show you step by step how to fix your car. It is very handy.
Slow down a bit and pay a bit more attention to what is being done in the video.

All he is doing is using a CV Joint %26quot;nut%26quot; to serve as a spacer while tightening the wheel nut, it pulls the stud into place. It saves in this case removing the whole hub assembly and pressing it in from behind once the splash guard is out of place.

If your car is RWD, then you remove the brake rotor and wheel studs come with it. Use a hammer, a small block of hardwood and safety eye wear and strike the stud out.
to remove it jus knok it out but to replaced it is more difficult... hit it from the back as much as you can (wont go all the way in, next used the wheel knot to pull it inn make sure you have a washer between and the lug knot should be with the flat part against the washer (use your lug wrench

if you have an air gun will be much easier
you have to remove the brake caliper and rotor.then beat it out.and install the new one
