Changing a Laguna CV Boot?

Has anyone removed an outer CV joint on a 99 Laguna to replace the boot/gaitor?

I've stripped the calipers etc off and got access to a circlip at the back of the cv joint. I've tried for 2 hours to get it open.

Will this release the joint when i finally get it out or am i barking up the wrong tree?

Bark..Bark.. that's just a piece...

The c/v joint is just the center of one of the front 'short shaft' drive shafts. One end connects by a splined end into the transmission and the other by a splined end through the steering knuckle bearing(not a bolted flange). If your lucky your car is one which you can press the shaft out of the seat without removing part of the knuckle from the car.

If your just replacing the boot %26amp; you have a 1 piece replacement boot, one end must be free. If you have a 'split' temp boot you can replace it where it is without removing anything but the old boot.

if your not mechanically minded get yourself a two piece gaiter.very easy to fit .nothing to take of
